"I don't totally hate it" - Martin and Bruyneel on Primoz Roglic's potential link-up with Netcompany INEOS
Cycling
Primoz Roglic has had talks and offers from multiple teams over the past few months, but has not come to an agreement with any. Speculation continues to increase on his future and where it may reside. Spencer Martin and Johan Bruyneel discussed the possibility of Netcompany INEOS joining the list.
Roglic has raced for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe for the past three seasons and is now leaving it, after the team has developed and signed a new batch of leaders - which feature Remco Evenepoel as its headliner.
Roglic and Evenepoel have only raced as teammates on one occasion the entire season: Roglic's very last day racing for the German team, at Il Lombardia.
Amongst those who have been in talks with Roglic were Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Tudor Pro Cycling Team, Pinarello - Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, Lotto - Intermarché, Bahrain - Victorious and Unibet Rose Rockets. It is not clear, at the time being, which offers might still be on the table.

Would Primoz Roglic be a fit at Netcompany INEOS?
"What about Netcompany INEOS, Primoz Roglic? Like he kind of is perfect for them because they need, they need a microwave rider," Spencer Martin argued on The Move podcast. "Like they someone that can just come in and win a Grand Tours. There's not many riders that can do that".
INEOS' have Thymen Arensman, Egan Bernal, Oscar Onley, Kévin Vauquelin and Carlos Rodríguez as weapons for the Grand Tours, but could only reach a third place at the Giro d'Italia as their best result.
The team has, over the past few years, switched its ambitions more towards stage hunting and the classics. However, its Tour de France was highly criticized due to the lack of results; whilst Oscar Onley could only manage a sixth place after putting his specific focus on La Vuelta.
There, Roglic was second, despite lacking a large supporting block for the mountains. His performance over the three weeks, following his ride at the World Championships and the European time trial title proved that the Slovenian is still a top rider - aside from complete.
"I don't totally hate it, they got a guy that could open a checkbook and make it happen, but yeah, for sure. Geraint Thomas is on the record saying that he's passed his prime. Is that a negotiation technique? We don't know what's going on there, Geraint Thomas," he laughed.
There is value in Primoz Roglic
However it can't be denied that most teams would benefit from having a rider such as Roglic, who might be on a lower budget into 2027 when comparing to previous seasons.
Netcompany INEOS saw the departure of Filippo Ganna mid-contract in recent weeks, which would theoretically free up budget that could be used for one more major signing.
Age may not be a barrier for Roglic, because Geraint Thomas was achieving top results for the British team at the same point in his career.
"Remember he almost won the Giro when he was 37 against Primoz? Probably should've won that Giro (in 2023, ed.). So I mean, Geraint Thomas was the best Grand Tour racer on that team until he retired, I believe".

The question on whether Roglic will continue his career in professional cycling continues to linger, whilst the amount of teams with potential of signing him might be dwindling.
"I think he's a very limited pickup. Like there's only a few teams that should make this choice, but I do think there's still value there," Martin concluded.

- bravo! a rider likes jonas needs motivation and he needs to believe in being able to reach goals. he - like anybody else in the world - doesn't believe that he can win the tdf with pogi present. and what's it worth for when pogi is not there? second class victory only. he has checked all three grand tours, so what is left if not retire? the classics! go for it, jonas!Ketterechts02-11-2026

- dude, Lemond never even was in the same race as Armstrong. He throws all these aspersions on other American riders who might usurp his throne as the greatest ever American racer. He doesn't say a single thing about (foreign) dopers who he actually raced against. Biggest douchebag move ever. I used to revere that guy, now I despise him. His actions are so weird.fatsupermodel02-11-2026
- This is just stupid, You do what you are good at not what you are weak at. He has no results to speak of when he participated. Even Froome, Conatdor had very little. With Pogi there he wont win none of the classics. he is already 30+ with a few years left at the top. It takes years to get good at classics. Is that really worth the effort???abstractengineer02-11-2026
