After taking the victory at Brabantse Pijl last week and finishing just off the podium at La Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday,
Benoît Cosnefroy is set to lead Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale at Liège-Bastogne-Liège this weekend.
He will be joined by
Felix Gall, who recently got two top-5 results at the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs and the Tour du Jura, as well as Paul Lapeira, who already has three victories to his name this season and finished fifth at the Amstel Gold Race.
They will be supported by a collective of French riders, with Nicolas Prodhomme, Clément Berthet, Bruno Armirail and Aurélien Paret-Peintre forming the rest of the lineup.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Cosnefroy said “Liège-Bastogne-Liège is the hardest of the Ardennes races, both physically and in terms of altitude difference. It's where the climbs are the longest and where the climbers have the most fun”.
On the team’s aims for Sunday’s race, the Frenchman went on to say “we’re going to be ambitious for this race, which is also a Monument. It's the fourth of the season and there’s always so much excitement as these races approach. We’re in good shape and the team is solid, so I think I've got my card if I try to get through all the difficulties and pack a punch in the finish”.
