Tao Geoghegan Hart is entering an important
Giro d'Italia. After his 2020 win he struggled to find form and consistency, but that has been the case this spring. Entering the race with the Tour of the Alps victory and a very strong
INEOS Grenadiers lineup, he hopes Covid-19 doesn't spill the team's plans.
“This team has spent a lot of time and energy in mitigating any sort of illness, so we’re not going to change our approach. We’re fortunate that so far it’s not come knocking at our door, so let’s try and keep it that way," Hart told the media in an open press conference this Thursday.

Euro/17,615 GBP in prizes! The INEOS rider was asked about the risks and possibilities of the team suffering from abandons due to Covid, something which should now be in mind of all teams. Hart, winner of a post-Covid Grand Tour however, has experienced what it's like to be in a team fully focused in containing it. After Jumbo-Visma and Bahrain - Victorious announced cases this week, the possibility of an outbreak expanding in the Giro peloton is real.
“This is another kettle of fish compared to what came before, what happened before next Saturday doesn’t matter. Just as how you raced on stages one, two or three of a Grand Tour doesn’t mean anything when you’re at stages 18,19 or 20. But I’m looking forward to getting into this race," he concluded, mentioning where he believes the race will be decided.
