“We didn’t have very much to win today” - Visma | Lease a Bike DS Grischa Niermann sums up uneventful day for the team at Tirreno-Adriatico

It was a rather uneventful day for Team Visma | Lease a Bike on stage 4 of Tirreno-Adriatico, as the team got through the stage largely unscathed, barring a small crash involving Attila Valter and INEOS Grenadiers rider Magnus Sheffield on a hairpin turn with around 42km to go.
In fact, the most shocking part of the stage from the team’s perspective would probably be that Jonas Vingegaard managed to stay up towards the front in the finale to finish eleventh on the stage, in what was a chaotic finale where the peloton were attempting to chase down the persistent Jonas Abrahamsen.
Speaking to Visma | Lease a Bike after the stage, sports director Grischa Niermann summarised the team’s day, as he said that “we didn't have very much to win today. There was a very good chance it would turn out to be another bunch sprint. Like yesterday, it was cold and wet again. However, the guys coped well with those circumstances. Our main goal was to get Jonas to the finish safely”.

- It's weird to say Evenepoel would be making a "serious mistake by adding the 2027 Giro d'Italia to his calendar, warning that such a decision could even be interpreted as a lack of confidence in his ability to win the Tour de France." It may well be a mistake but with so many commentators (of all sorts) continuously claiming almost everything Remco does as being a mistake, almost nobody should care what the pundits and the disparagers should say. His team may not want him to do the Giro, and that matters. But it's possibly or probably up to Remco to decide and it may not have to be decided on until a month or so ahead of the race. Yes , Remco is inconsistent much like the majority of the best riders but he's enjoying a period of not having been recently injured (or sick). Whatever he does he need not be concerned with critics who will second guess any perceived failure no matter what.
