"We are all ready" - Simon Yates looks to work through Paris-Nice GC despite presence of Pogacar and Vingegaard

Team Jayco-AIUla goes to Paris-Nice to secure a good GC result with Simon Yates. The British rider has had some excellent results in this race in previous editions, finishing second twice, and is confident that he and his team can achieve another good performance.

"It’s a race I really enjoy, particularly the last stage around Nice. The team time trial on stage three should make things interesting for the GC, but I think we have a really strong team for it. It’s always a stacked field and a challenging course, but we are all ready, and I’m looking forward to a solid eight days of racing”, said Yates in the press release.

One of the features of this year's edition of Paris-Nice will be a 32.2 km team time trial with a new rule, that dictates that the first rider crossing the line each time will set the time for all team members. Jayco-AIUla has good-time trialists like Matteo Sobrero and Luke Durbridge, that can help the team secure a good spot.

"This year the TTT will be super important for anyone that is aiming for the GC, so for us, we’re one of those teams with Yates there, and we’ve put a fair bit of emphasis on it. It’s a different format this year as you don’t have to finish with four riders and the time will be taken from the real-time across the finish line, so it will be a crucial stage," said David McPartland the team sports director.

Simon Yates will be, of course, the leader for the GC, and his sports director reveals confidence in him: " Simon is looking good, he’s been at home in Andorra for most of the time since he got back from racing in Australia, and he’s got a good block of racing in his legs already. He’s healthy and things are on a good track for a strong GC performance", said McPartland.

And they're also aiming for stage wins, with the presence of Michael Matthews on the team, "Michael also has a big block of racing under his belt as well, and he’s had a good training camp down in Spain too, so everything is looking good, and both guys will be supported by a super strong team, and we’re looking forward to a big week of racing in France.”, he concluded.

Team Jayco AlUla for Paris-Nice: Simon Yates, Michael Matthews, Matteo Sobrero, Kelland O'Brien, Luke Durbdridge, Lucas Hamilton and Chris Harper.
