The bunch sprint finale of stage 11 at the 2024 Giro d'Italia was an incredible frantic one. Sadly for Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL's Fabio Jakobsen it was also a dangerous one as the Dutchman crashed hard.
Jonathan Milan took the win in the end, narrowly seeing off Tim Merlier at the line. At hundred metres or so earlier however, just as the sprints were being launched, Jakobsen was among three riders that were brought to the deck in nasty fashion. Although things looked bad from the aerial view, thankfully the Dutch powerhouse was quickly back on his feet.

The Giro is not the Tour and doesn’t command the same interest or attract the same “elite” (those willing to pay to be a part of something they consider has ego boosting potential). Roadside viewing will always largely remain free for everyone outside circuits. Introduction of a symbolic entrance to mountain climbs is worthy of exploration. - any rider less than 25 whether they are really ready for the position of leadership of GT is probably not the case. I think Pogi himself suffered when he was defeated by Jonas in the TDF twice.
