Team Visma | Lease a Bike produced another solid display at
the
Amstel Gold Race, continuing what has been a consistent, if not yet
victorious, 2025 Classics campaign.
On a gruelling 260-kilometre course featuring over 3,000
metres of climbing,
Wout van Aert once again finished just shy of the podium.
The Belgian crossed the line in fourth place, matching his results from both
the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.
While a win continues to elude him, Van Aert’s form is
clearly building, and there’s hope that a breakthrough is just around the
corner.
The race produced a surprise winner in Mattias Skjelmose,
who outsprinted both Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel in a dramatic finale. Wout
van Aert will be hoping during next week’s races, he can contest the victory.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, sports director Arthur
van Dongen struck a positive tone in a
team press release, “As always, the
Amstel Gold Race was a challenging day. Wout and Tiesj once again showed their
excellent form in the finale.
“Ben Tulett also rode very well, though he had an
unfortunate puncture at a crucial moment. Perhaps more was possible today had
we responded to Evenepoel’s move, but overall, we’re satisfied with having two
riders in the top ten.”
