UCI Rankings Team Update | Red Bull BORA jumps into third place after another Evenepoel masterclass in Spain
Cycling
This week's update features points scored in one-day race Muscat Classic and stage races Volta Comunitat Valenciana and Etoile de Bessèges. A handful of national championships (such as Colombia and South Africa) and the Asian Championships are also included.
You can check the previous UCI Rankings update here. UAE Team Emirates - XRG stays on top of the leaderboard, with 2301 points, extending the lead with the second place. The Emirati team delivered a solid performance in Spain, with both Joao Almeida and Brandon McNulty finishing inside the top 10 of the GC in their season debut, which gave around 300 points to the team.
UAE was also present in Oman, riding the Muscat Classic, and they also had a successful race points-wise. Adam Yates was not able to outclass Mauro Schmid in the final sprint, but he secured nonetheless a second place and 170 UCI points. His teammate Rui Oliveira finished in seventh place, coming from a group behind.
It was a great week for UAE, but it was arguably even better for Team Jayco AlUla. The Australian team didn't earn as many UCI points as UAE, but they claimed a victory in the Muscat Classic with Mauro Schmid, granting 250 points. The Swiss rider has proven to be in outstanding shape at the beginning of the 2026 season, and he already added two victories to his tally, besides of a second place in the GC of the Tour Down Under in mid-January.

His win came after a textbook team effort, as Luke Plapp was instrumental in helping Schmid secure the first place. The Aussie finished in third place himself, getting 140 points. Jayco did not compete in Spain or France throughout the week, so they could not increase their tally even more, allowing some teams to get closer in the ranking.
This was the case of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, which stormed third place thanks to Remco Evenepoel. The Belgian rider continued his excellent season debut in Spain, securing the GC of Volta Comunitat Valenciana, plus two stages. Notwithstanding the neutralization of the time trial (the stage was ridden but times did not count for the GC due to strong gusts of wind), he went full gas and won it. He went on to win the queen stage afterwards as well, dropping everyone else with a powerful acceleration and winning solo.
He earned over 300 points all by himself during the week, but he was not the only Red Bull Bora delivering strong performances. Both Giulio Pellizzari and Aleksandr Vlasov were very active throughout the race, both finishing in the top 10 (Pellizzari was third, Vlasov was seventh) despite working as domestiques for Remco. A great collective effort overall by the German team, lifting them to the third place in the ranking with 1527 points.

Pellizzari is expected to ride the Giro d'Italia this year
They overtook XDS Astana Team, even if the Kazakh team added almost 500 points to their tally. Christian Scaroni has been one of the strongest riders this season, and he was fourth in the Muscat Classic, while Henok Mulubrhan was eighth. They didn't compete in Spain or France, but they were instead busy with national championships. The Asian Continental Championships took place in Saudi Arabia, and Astana completely dominated the competition.
Yevgeniy Fedorov won the time trial, with Nicolas Vinokurov coming in second place. Both riders were also second in the mixed relay team time trial. The road race takes place February 11, and they are also expected to come on top. Meanwhile, Guilermo Thomas Silva was third in both the Uruguayan road race and time trial nationals. Both the nationals and continentals give tons of points, and Astana are capitalizing on that.

- You're right about Kieran Wood, but he keeps reminding us he's the big Deputy Editor-in-Chief !?!? He says his focus is on accurate, real-time coverage and clear contextual analysis. Kieran also says he places strong emphasis on careful sourcing, editorial accuracy, and updating articles as new, verified information becomes available. So... he's gotta be right in saying Pogi is a four time TDF winner!?!? ... or maybe not!?!? LOL !!!PogiSloFans03-11-2026

- I think Jonas would have lost the TDF by 4+ minutes (at the least) and might not have even been in the top 3. Too much talent in the younger riders to say anyone not named Pogačar would have been top 3md197503-11-2026

- There was once a time when Lance was supremely popular and he used his artificial "It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life" persona to lead his mob in going after Greg. There was no one Lance did not abuse in protecting his phony hero image. Lance promoted himself as a divine megastar and he let down millions of cancer victims and gullible devotees who clung far too long to the charade. Lance is the epitome of a corrupt person and because of his power, many around him, including business enterprises, succumbed to the evil. All who got in Armstrong's way were mercilessly attacked by him and his minions. This remarkably continues today with a new generation. LeMond was a number one enemy and paid a huge price. leedorney02-11-2026 - Watch the interview on youtube. I don't speak French. I do speak English and Spanish and you can hear it in his voice. Years ago LeMond had real personal problems I imagine in no small part because of Armstrong. then Armstrong goes round "full blast" re: LeMond having drinking and drug problems. The same way Andreu was expelled from mainstream cycling so was LeMond. On the positive side the clips of the ride and chatting with old teammates and was good. To seemed like a fun day and experience and good reason brush up his French.atom02-11-2026
