Transfer Market - Several World Tour teams seek to sign the sprinter who beat Tom Pidcock at the Tour of the Alps

The transfer market is bubbling with action throughout the long spring months, with teams trying to get an early lead in important signings for the 2027 season. More than ever, these deals are made early in the season, and far from August when the transfer can be made public. One of the most sought out sprinters in the market is Tommaso Dati, who is reported to have several World Tour teams interested in him.
This should come as no surprise, taking into consideration the Italian rider's current season. He is no unknown in the peloton, having turned pro in 2024 with the Italian Biesse - Carrera team, where he spent two seasons. In 2025 he had a trainee period with Cofidis, but these two years of work were not enough for the big teams to recognize his talent.
This season already, with more experience under the belt and a calendar that both allowed him to take wins and also battle with some big names; Dati has found the perfect balance and his form came at the right moment. The now Team UKYO rider, a Japanese-Italian continental team, took his first pro win at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.

Tour of the Alps marks a turning point 

In April however at the Tour of the Alps, he had his true breakthrough, winning the opening stage where he beat Tom Pidcock in the final sprint to Innsbruck. However, if his sprinting abilities weren't enough to gather attention, the following days would.
On stage 2 he carried the leader's jersey, a massive feat against several World Tour teams; and on stage 3 he survived over 3500 meters of climbing to sprint against Pidcock once again - this time finishing second. Currently, Dati is racing the Tour of Japan, where he won the opening prologue and is currently the race leader.

Dati set for a move to the World Tour 

With a small team and a one-year deal, there is no doubt that Dati will be taking a big step next year, and has the privilege of choosing his next destination amongst several top teams.
According to TuttoBiciWeb, the Italian talent is currently in talks with four teams including Pinarello - Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team of Tom Pidcock himself; Team Jayco AlUla, Movistar Team and XDS Astana Team.
Dati's future should be revealed in August however decided earlier on. It is quite likely that a move to cycling's top level will follow, and that the information will slip through the cracks throughout the upcoming months.
