Pavel Sivakov and Adam Yates set up the inevitable attack from
Tadej Pogacar. With 31 kilometers to go, despite being in the yellow jersey, the Slovenian attacked and distanced all his rivals.
Primoz Roglic and
Jonas Vingegaard chased in the descent and the latter then set off in pursuit of his great rival on the Col de Perthus, making the catch right at the top of the climb. Behind, with very big gaps developing, Remco Evenpoel and Primoz Roglic put on the chase.
The two duos worked together to the finish for their own GC interests. At the finish line
Tadej Pogacar was for the first time beaten in a head-to-head sprint at the
Tour de France. Vingegaard had incredible legs on the day and was the fastest in the uphill sprint that decided the stage winner.
