The Giro d'Italia 2025 reaches its climax this Saturday, with stage 20. The Colle delle Finestre will be climb in which all decisions can be made and dreams may be shattered. On Egan Bernal's side, he's got confidence on his side from INEOS Grenadiers due to the climb's style.
For INEOS Grenadiers, with Egan Bernal sitting sixth, 3 minutes behind the Top 3, closing the Giro with a win for the Colombian would be a more than worthy end to a race in which he has not stopped trying. Jonathan Castroviejo, his teammate, believes he has a good chance on the final day in the mountains:
"We are going to try to be there and fight for the stage victory. For Egan Bernal the podium is very difficult, because he is 3 minutes away. But the stage victory is possible. The top 3 will have to watch out for each other in the final. The 9 kilometers of sterrato in Finestre can be very good for Egan," the veteran, who will retire this year, said in an interview with CyclingPro.Net.
Although there will be many candidates to win the stage, the main issue is the aforementioned fight between Isaac Del Toro and Richard Carapaz. For Castroviejo, the Ecuadorian will attack from the start of the Finestre climb to take the Mexican out of the race early:
"It's going to be a nice stage to watch on TV. I think Richard Carapaz will try to attack from the first ramps of Colle delle Finestre to try to take Isaac del Toro out of the race and win the Giro d'Italia," added the Spaniard.
"Isaac del Toro has proven to be the strongest. But Finestre is practically 20 kilometers at 9%, one of the hardest that can be climbed today, and anyone can have a bad day," he concluded.
