Tadej Pogacar has already achieved a palmares to rival the greats of the sport over the last five years. Three Tours de France, a Giro d'Italia, a World Championship title, six Monuments, plus much more. According to Spanish cycling icon Pedro Delgado, Pogacar's dominance could yet continue for at least another five years.
The 64-year-old, 1988 Tour de France and two time Vuelta a Espana winner made the prediction of Pogacar's lasting era of greatness in comments to ‘Los desayunos de la APDV’, organised by the Valladolid Sports Press Association and collected by Eurosport, with Delgado expressing how impressed he has been by the Slovenian UAE Team Emirates leader.
"He is a prodigy, who has come to dominate cycling for the next five years," Delgado explains, also noting how one of Pogacar's greatest strengths is the super team built by UAE Team Emirates to support him in the biggest races. "He has a great team behind him that is committed to him."
In fact, the legendary figure in Spanish cycling goes so far as to say that he sees no true rival for Pogacar. "Remco Evenepoel, who is a great athlete, next to him (Tadej Pogacar ed.) is an apprentice," Delgado exclaims. "Pogacar has stratospheric values and also likes to show himself and win as a champion, because he is not satisfied."
