Steven Kruijswijk will be a key rider for
Jumbo-Visma at the
Tour de France. When it comes to the mountain stages, the climber will aid leaders
Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard, just as he did at the Critérium du Dauphiné.
"I know what I have to do this Tour, mainly for the team, I go into the Tour with a good feeling, I feel good, I'm looking forward to it," the Dutchman told NOS. "We've been working towards this Tour for a long time these past months. If you look at the Dauphiné and the last few weeks, I think we are in good shape.
He has in 2019 finished on the podium on the race, and afterwards fell back into a domestique role at Jumbo-Visma. More successful than ever, the Dutch team will try to take the top step in Paris this month, and Kruijswijk will play a crucial role. "I hope I can ride a standout Tour, but it will be in service of the team," he added.
"Yellow is the biggest goal. But a rider like Wout can very well draw his own plan and can go for the green, even if he has less support. You also just want to win stages with Wout and he can do that. In the Dauphiné, we showed that that interaction can be there, but everyone will have to do his part," the veteran explained.
