Remco Evenepoel will be looking to bounce back from his Liege-Bastogne-Liege disappointment at the 2025
Tour de Romandie. With
Soudal - Quick-Step now confirming the support squad around the double Olympic champion, sports director
Dries Devenyns is keen to calm expectations as Evenepoel continues to work his way into the season after a December training crash.
“Romandie is one of the most important stage races of the spring and we’d like to get some good results there before moving our attention to the Giro d’Italia," previews Devenyns in a pre-Tour de Romandie press release posted to the
official website of the Soudal - Quick-Step team. "Remco will be the team’s leader, and he’ll have at his side a strong and motivated squad to support his comeback."
That 'strong and motivated squad' Devenyns talks about there includes Tour de Romandie prologue winner in 2023 -
Josef Cerny, plus the loyal Soudal - Quick-Step domestiques
Pascal Eenkhoorn,
William Junior Lecerf,
Casper Pedersen,
Pieter Serry, and
Mauri Vansevenant.
"The parcours comes with plenty of challenges, and the weather could also play a part, so it will be a hard week, but we believe in ourselves," concludes Devenyns preview of the upcoming Swiss stage race. "We would like to win a stage there, but the main plan is to take it one day at a time and see how things go.”
