It's a second win for Alpecin-Deceuninck in as many days at the 2025 Tour of Turkey. Tibor del Grosso has stormed to a first pro win on stage 2, powering up a punchy finale in very impressive fashion.
Five men attacked early to form the breakaway of the day on stage 2. By 56km to go however, all the attackers had already been swallowed up by the peloton on the second categorised climb of the day. A number of notable riders were caught out behind the peloton too, with the likes of race leader Simon Dehairs and the experienced Alexander Kristoff dropped on the climbs. With 20km to go, a bunch finish looked set, but with almost all the notable sprinters in the race out of the back, who would contest the finale wasn't immediately clear.
With an punchy, uphill final kilometre, not all teams were willing to wait for the sprint. At just over 6km to go, Team Solution Tech - Vini Fantini went on the attack, stringing things out behind and drawing out counter moves from teams such as Burgos Burpellet BH. That counter by Mario Aparicio actually saw the Spaniard get a gap of 10 inside the final 3km. Just as they passed through the flamme rouge, Aparicio was caught though.
In the fight for the stage win, it was then Tibor del Grosso who secured his first professional victory ahead of Giovanni Lonardi at the line.
