Former INEOS Grenadiers and Jumbo-Visma rider Rohan Dennis has plead guilty to one aggravated count of 'creating the likelihood of harm' following the death of his wife, Australian track star Melissa Hoskins.
Hoskins tragically passed away in hospital almost exactly one year ago, on the 30th of December 2023, after being struck by a vehicle being that Dennis had been driving outside of their family home in Adelaide, Australia. "There was no intention of Mr Dennis to harm his wife and this charge does not charge him with responsibility for her death," the retired athlete's lawyer told the court.
A lot is still unclear about the circumstances surrounding the incident, but the guilty plea of Dennis means the 34-year-old has admitted to "to driving a car when Hoskins was in close proximity, knowing that act was likely to cause harm or being recklessly indifferent to whether it would," according to a report by BBC News.
