Results Vuelta a Burgos 2026 stage 3 - Oscar Onley takes his first win for Netcompany INEOS

Netcompany INEOS have finally got good news after a few rough months as Oscar Onley has signaled his return to top level. The British rider has won stage 2 of the Vuelta a Burgos, the race's first summit finish, and his first win with the British team.
After Matthew Brennan won the opening stage of the race, the climbers would come to the front in the second day of racing. The profile was mostly flat but featured a hilltop finish at Pineda de la Sierra, with 3.4 kilometers at 7.6% average gradient.
Rayan Boulahoite, Diego Uriarte, Rodrigo Álvarez, Javier Ibañez and Yago Aguirre marked the day's breakaway, one that wouldn't have many chances. Slowly the group lost members towards the end until the only non-French rider was left alone in front. Boulahoite held his own out front from 10 to 5 kilometers to go.
The climb began with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe setting the pace, but it was not high enough for the liking of some riders. Netcompany INEOS hit the front with Brandon Rivera leading Oscar Onley; whilst Brennan was dropped and Mikel Landa was also left behind by the peloton worryingly early.
Just outside the final kilometer Jay Vine launched an attack, testing his rivals but was promptly followed by several. Luke Tuckwell took the front again for Red Bull before a rider from Burgos hit the front in the final kilometer.
Sprint between Onley and Ciccone
The peloton split into several groups and in the final meters, Oscar Onley and Giulio Ciccone had a head-to-head sprint up the climb at an extraordinary speed. Jarno Widar launched his sprint first but cracked; Ciccone took the front early on but the Netcompany INEOS rider managed to resist the acceleration the best and managed to take his first win of the season.
Onley took the stage win ahead of Giulio Ciccone directly whilst Enric Mas was third behind, already behind a small gap - several of which opened up towards the finish.
