Stage 3 of the Tour de Pologne was another day set for a bunch sprint and it delivered. Jonathan Milan, winner of the first two stages of the race, was once again the winner this Wednesday afternoon in the third opportunity.
A pan-flat day on the bike, it was another day that fit the sprinters perfectly, without any obstacles in the way of a bunch sprint in Zielona Góra. Enzo Paleni, Dries de Bondt, Matteo Sobrero, Sjoerd Bax, Fabio Christen and Taco van der Hoorn formed the day's breakaway.
The group threatened the peloton due to its quality, and the 193-kilometer long stage ended up being quite fast with an average speed around the 46Km/h mark. The catch was only made with 4 kilometers to go, with a peloton moving at full speed.
The sprinter team leadouts came to the front at full speed in the final kilometers, with two main figures that were expected to fight for the stage win. There was no leadout coming to the front in the final kilometer, as all teams burned through their leadout men in the extremely fast lead-up to the finish.
Jonathan Milan found himself in the wheel of two NSN riders and when the time came to launch the final sprint, the yellow jersey did so without hesitation and rode to his third consecutive stage win in Poland. Noah Hobbs of EF Education-EasyPost finished a close second whilst Astana's Alessandro Romele rode to a surprise third place.
