The speculation continues surrounding Remco Evenepoel's future and whether or not the double Olympic champion will leave Soudal - Quick-Step. Currently, the loudest talk is surrounding Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe.
At the 2024 Tour of Britain, Evenepoel himself was quizzed on the transfer rumours, but seemed to hint that his future remains at the side of Patrick Lefevere, in the colours of Soudal - Quick-Step. "I don't know anything about that myself," Evenepoel said in conversation with Sporza. "So much always comes out without any truth in it. I have no idea what that would be about. I haven't seen anything myself. That I will normally still be riding for the same team next year? That's a yes, right?"
In truth though, that didn't do much to dampen speculation. Across the continent, as Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe were celebrating a second ever Grand Tour win at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana, talk of Evenepoel infiltrated the camp, with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe CEO Ralph Denk asked for a comment on the rumours by HLN. “I hear and read the rumours every day in Italian, English and Belgian newspapers," Denk admitted. "But I have nothing to say about it. They are gossip and I may not, cannot and will not respond to them. No matter how annoying that is for you journalists.”
Now, even Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader and the man who won the Red Jersey at the Vuelta a Espana, Primoz Roglic has been tracked down and asked for comment. “There are rumours circulating that Evenepoel would join your team. Would you be able to leave if Remco came or would you stay in the team anyway,” Marca asked the Slovenian. “Those are always difficult subjects to comment on," Roglic answered, typically keeping his cards close to his chest. “It is something that has not happened yet. The most important thing is that we have found the right path with the team. We worked hard and won the Vuelta.”
