Remco Evenepoel has taken yet another win at the Tour of Norway, this time taking the win out of a reduced group that went up the road late on, and having his first flat sprint win as a pro.

"I'm quite surprised, because I think this is only my first victory in a sprint. I can still remember that during my first year as a pro I always came last in these kind of sprints. But lately I've been training more and more on this, it's now paying off," Evenepoel said after winning the fifth stage of the race, the third in five days and second where his newly-trained explosiveness profited.

Despite being in the lead of the race, the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team leader was not keen on just riding the wheels this afternoon into Sandnes, as he helped close the gap to the last survivor of the breakaway Ben Healy. He later on sprinted towards the win, beating Tobias Johannessen once again.

He explained: “In the final phase I only started riding because I saw that a group was returning. Just in time I was able to save a little bit for a sprint. I didn't know if someone was still ahead," Evenepoel concluded. With this win, he's got the overall classification safe, as the race will come to a close tomorrow in Stavanger.
