How the deal happened
Cyclingnews reported that Red Bull also talked with the SD Worx team before making their decision. It seems the bike brand Specialized helped connect Red Bull with the cycling world. Erwin Janssen, the CEO of
Team SD Worx - Protime, confirmed that they had meetings with Red Bull. However, he mentioned that the energy drink brand ultimately decided to sponsor a French team.
When reporters found the boss of FDJ United-SUEZ, Stephen Delcourt, at the team bus before Strade Bianche, they asked him about the Red Bull news. He only had a very short answer to give: "No comment."
Even though he did not want to speak about it, other sources confirmed the news. In fact, one source said an FDJ United-SUEZ team car was seen at Red Bull's headquarters in Austria almost a year ago. This shows that this plan has been in the works for a long time. The deal is mostly finished, and Red Bull will probably be officially announced as a title sponsor before the Tour de France Femmes this summer.

Keeping control and building a "Super Team"
Stephen Delcourt owns the French team, and Cyclingnews reports that he will not hand over control of the team to Red Bull. Instead, Red Bull will simply add its name as a title sponsor alongside the French brands FDJ United and SUEZ.
Red Bull is famous for spending big money in sports. Last year, they took control of the men's Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team, giving them a massive budget to turn them into a "super team." Everyone expects them to do the exact same thing for the women's sport.
Delcourt has proven he is a great manager. He built FDJ United-SUEZ into one of the biggest teams in the women's peloton, and he convinced Vollering to join them in 2025. Even though Vollering did not win the Tour de France in 2024 or 2025 (she was second in both editions), she is still one of the biggest stars in the sport. Her fame has even brought her huge personal sponsors like Nike and Specialized.
Vollering's current contract ends this year, but Delcourt seems very confident that he can extend her deal. With Red Bull bringing in a massive budget, the French team's future looks incredibly bright.
