Primoz Roglic is perhaps the biggest asset still in the market at this point, and the questions regarding his future are some of the most interesting in the cycling world at the moment. The Slovenian's future in the peloton might take place once again at Team Visma | Lease a Bike, as reports suggest there have been conversations between the two parties.
Roglic signed with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe in 2024 and over the past three years has seen his role in the team slowly come down due to the growth of Florian Lipowitz and the signing of Remco Evenepoel. Still early in the summer, his departure from the German team had been confirmed, but a destination had not been agreed on - Roglic's stay in the cycling world, as a matter of fact, wasn't either.
But the final months of Roglic's season have been a major trump card for his stay in the sport, with him netting the European champion time trial jersey; as well as finishing second at the Vuelta a España - proving to be still be able to win a Grand Tour, despite the ripe age of 36.
Roglic's chances of remaining in the peloton have thus increased, as has the interest from several teams. According to Wielerflits, there has been a manifestation of interest by Visma on its former rider, inquiring about his future and signaling a potential offer.

Who is Visma battling against?

Visma might have joined the battle to sign Primoz Roglic, but they are certainly not alone. The Slovenian still carries a lot of value, and guarantees of both results and, if necessary, UCI points - which for some teams has become a priority.
In fact over the months, Roglic's name has been associated with several teams. Most prominently was Tudor Pro Cycling Team, and his comments after the end of the season indicated that he had an offer on the table.
Lotto - Intermarché has also been strongly linked with the Slovenian, which would make for one of the market's most unexpected moves if it was to happen.
To a minor degree, the Dutch news outlet also reported that Pinarello - Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team and XDS Astana Team have shown interest in signing the veteran, who has now been in the World Tour for over a decade.
With a new phase in Roglic's career come new goals and new motivations, some of which could make a large impact in his choice over what the future holds.

Roglic's history with Visma

Visma have lost Simon Yates last winter and up to this point, have only signed Pinarello's Mark Donovan into the 2027 season. The Dutch team have not conducted any major moves in a lackluster transfer market, but Roglic could change that around.
What his role could be is not clear, but the Slovenian would know what to expect by joining Visma. From 2016 to 2023, the Dutch team was his home, and where he developed into a world-class Grand Tour rider and time trialist.
With Visma, Roglic won three editions of the Vuelta a España; a Giro d'Italia; an Olympic time trial title and also came incredibly close to winning the Tour de France back in 2020. In addition to that, the majority of his 93 wins as a professional rider have been with the colours of the Dutch team - which include dozens at the World Tour level.
