Primoz Roglic came through the penultimate stage in the Vuelta a Burgos, which was won from the early break by Movistar's Oier Lazkano, unscathed. The Slovenian classification leader of Jumbo-Visma looks back on his day on the team site of the Dutch success formation, while also looking ahead to what is to come. Sports director Addy Engels also has his say.
"Once again I have seen a strong team. The boys had everything under control," Roglic praises his teammates. Jumbo-Visma kept the nine-man leading group fairly short, as there were three dangerous riders for the general classification at the front. "Tomorrow a tough stage with an uphill finish awaits. I'm going to do everything I can to maintain my lead."
Engels also looked with great satisfaction at the work done by his team. "There were three guys in the leading group who were fairly close in the standings, so we were forced to keep the difference controlled to about four minutes. That's what we did," he praised.
The former professional cyclist is looking forward to the final stage in the Spanish stage race, which is characterized by a difficult final on Lagunas de Neila. "That final climb is a well-known one, because it is included every year. It is a difficult, but fair climb where the legs will have to speak. For the time being it looks good for Primoz," he concludes modestly.
