With the signing of Remco Evenepoel and the growth of Florian Lipowitz,
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe have multiple and strong options to lead in the Grand Tours and stage-races... There are several other figures, and this allows for
Primoz Roglic to calmly follow his plan, away from the spotlight as he desires. This Monday, the Slovenian is back, part of the
Tirreno-Adriatico lineup - a race which he has won back in 2019 and 2023.
The Italian race typically provides a mix of time trialing, mountain stages and also plenty explosive finales. The Slovenian's versatility and explosivity has often been a perfect combination to conquer the race, something he has done two times throughout his stint at Visma. During his two seasons with the German team, he has begun his season either at Paris-Nice or the Volta ao Algarve; but this year he begins his campaign in the Italian race. Roglic is racing Itzulia Baque Country, the Tour de Romandie; and likely the Vuelta a España later in the year as his sole Grand Tour option.
However in Italy he won't have the pressure to carry the team on his back, as he joins the Giro d'Italia leaders for a race in which there will be plenty avenues to chase results. Roglic will be joined by none other than Giulio Pellizzari and Jai Hindley, who thrived at La Vuelta last year, and will co-lead the Giro team when it comes to its overall classification ambitions. Roglic's role can vary depending on his form.
