We
preview stage 4 of the
Tour of Britain, which will take place on
5 September 2025. It is the first hilly stage of this year’s race, expected to deliver an explosive sprint finale featuring the GC riders, with
Remco Evenepoel likely to be involved. The stage is set to
start at 12:45 CET and should
finish around 15:25 CET.
The fourth day of racing finally sees some climbing, the riders start off the day in Atherstone, close to Birmingham, and head south towards Burton Dasset where they will finish the stage. This could be an important day for the overall classification, and we could see different race situations unfold as well.
The peloton will tackle a three-lap circuit towards the end of the stage, which will feature a hilltop finish. The peloton will have to go through the 900-meter climb which averages over 7% and coincides with the finish line, but before doing so there will be another very steep hilltop where we can see some interesting moves.
This isn't likely to be a key day for the overall classification, it will likely just be a sprint finish but between those who can climb, but there is the risk for splits and bonifications are at play. Hence, the GC riders have to be as well positioned as possible on the eve of the queen stage. At his best level Remco Evenepoel can win the stage, but this is far from a certainty. It's a finale for the puncheurs, where Sam Watson and
Matthew Brennan will be the main favourites.
