On the 19th of October we've got the final of the Italian Autumn classics, which will bring the season to a close at the same time as the Chrono des Nations. The
Veneto Classic is a recent addition to the calendar but it is a 1.Pro race, providing valuable UCI points for those still hunting for every point possible whilst at the same time providing the classics specialists with another opportunity to take a big win.
The race is 180 kilometers long, not a long day on the bike specially for this time of year, but it doesn't make it easy by any chance. There are 2300 meters of climbing separating Soave from Bassano del Grappa - the first 50 of which are completely flat, before the race goes into its hilly section which does feature some circuit racing.
The riders will climb twice a 3-kilometer long climb at 5.6% and on five occasions the ascent to La Tisa, a little easier but with a steep final 400 meters at 10%, where explosive attacks can blow up the race at any time. The last of its ascents ends with 19 kilometers to go.
The riders then leave the circuit racing and head towards two very steep yet short climbs, one of them being the 'Diesel Farm', 1.2 kilometers at 10.2% on a gravel road, with the descent also taking place off-road. This climb ends with 9 kilometers to go and very shortly there is another 450-meter long ramp at 10% which comes with a mere 4 kilometers to go. It's mostly downhill to the finish line from there on.
