UAE Team Emirates - XRG is one of the teams that had it's
Tour de France lineup planned already since the very start of the year, and they will arrive in July without injuries messing up their plans. This Friday morning they have confirmed the lineup that will be riding in support of
Tadej Pogacar as he looks to win the Tour once again.
Pogacar will of course be headlining the team and comes in as the man to beat for the overall classification. Besides his dominant victory last year, this season the Slovenian has been on incredible form, riding through the classics to win several of them - whilst winning both the UAE Tour and Criterium du Dauphiné, both stage-races he started this year.
At the Dauphiné he faced his main rivals for the Tour and his pristine form saw him put in a dominant ride that asserts him as the absolute favourite for the Grand Boucle. With 99 wins in his palmarès, he is also likely to reach victory number 100 during the race.
He will be backed up in the mountains by
João Almeida, recent winner of the Tour de Suisse - as well at Itzulia Basque Country and Tour de Romandie - who was already fourth in last year's edition whilst supporting the Slovenian.
Adam Yates,
Pavel Sivakov and
Marc Soler will be crucial support men in the mountains to battle against a very strong Visma.
Tim Wellens and
Jhonatan Narváez will be handymen for all terrains, but as seen in the recent Dauphiné, they can be very valuable when attacking the race outside the high mountains and instead focusing on explosive racing. As was the case last year,
Nils Politt comes in as road captain and the most important support rider for the flat stages.
