The 2026 season is starting soon. In Benidorm,
UAE Team Emirates - XRG is assembled today, and its star riders are revealing their calendars for the upcoming season.
Tadej Pogacar has confirmed his 2026 schedule, which includes the
Tour de France as the sole Grand Tour; all monuments and two races in Switzerland.
João Almeida will be racing the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España, whilst Pogacar will be joined by Isaac del Toro at the Tour de France. It will be an interesting change in schedules for the team's most important riders, but the World Champion remains as the priority.
Pogacar will be starting his season at Strade Bianche where he is the defending champion, and will avoid stage-races early in the season. He has confirmed his presence at
Milano-Sanremo, Tour of Flanders and
Paris-Roubaix. He will then race Liège-Bastogne-Liège where he will pursuit more monument wins and battle Remco Evenepoel.
Pogacar will then make his debut at the Tour de Romandie, where he will look to add a new title to his palmarès. That seems to be the main plot point in his Tour de France preparation, as he will skip the newly-named Tour Auverge - Rhône Alpes (formerly known as Criterium du Dauphiné) and will race the Tour de Suisse instead. The race is going to be five days long in 2026, and allows him for a slightly more relaxed preparation.
Then, the Slovenian heads to the Tour de France where he will be trying to obtain his fifth title. At the Tour, at the time being, the plans are slowly being revealed, but there aren't major changes expected to the lineup. In the coming months he will still take a more training-based approach. Soon, the full lineup for the Emirati team at the Grand Boucle will be revealed, with the plans certainly already confirmed.
