On the day Julian Alaphilippe's
Soudal - Quick-Step departure was confirmed,
Patrick Lefevere's team have already announced the Frenchman's potential replacement.
Signing on a two-year deal from the
INEOS Grenadiers, the British national champion
Ethan Hayter will join Soudal - Quick-Step from 2025. “I’m really pleased to be joining Soudal Quick-Step – one of the best teams in the peloton – next year," the 25-year-old says in conversation with his new employer's
official website.
"It’s an exciting move and I’m grateful for the opportunity. From the outside, it has always looked like a great team to be part of, and this new challenge is something that motivates me for next season," continues Hayter, who can count notable wins such as the GC at the Tour de Pologne in 2022 and the Tour of Norway in 2021, plus stages of the Tour of Britain, the Itzulia Basque Country and the Volta ao Algarve on his palmares among others. "I’m already looking forward to meeting everyone there and getting things started.”
“Ethan is a multi-discipline rider, somebody who is used to winning and who has caught our attention with his many qualities, which he has showcased in the World Tour from a young age," adds Soudal - Quick-Step team boss Patrick Lefevere, delighted to acquire the recent Olympic silver medallist on the track into his team's ranks. "He will soon be 26, but he can become even better and this, together with his desire to work hard and thrive in this environment, makes us confident in the success of our partnership.”
