INEOS Grenadiers has made official that
Geraint Thomas will continue to be part of the British team for 2 more seasons. The 2018 Tour de France winner thus makes official what was an open secret and will remain until 2025 with the squad in which he has achieved his greatest sporting successes.
Thomas confirmed it with a message on social media: "The show goes on. That's right, you guys have me for two more years. @INEOSGrenadiers has always been my second home and I still love racing my bike so I've never thought about doing anything else. Now to decide what to run with next season..."
For much of the season there was talk that 2023 could be the Welshman's last as a professional, but his good performance in the Giro d'Italia, which he came close to winning and was only beaten by Primoz Roglic in the decisive final time trial, has made him rethink his future and remain active to try to win another Grand Tour before retiring.
Now, not only will he remain an active and strong card in the British team's deck, he will also continue to serve as a guide for younger talents that the team continues to sign, both in the time-trialing and stage-racing fields. With this, Thomas is expected to compete at least until 39 years of age, and with the INEOS structure ever since 2010.
