The Dutch team shared a video on
social media on Saturday showing Jorgenson, who has already undergone surgery for the fracture, riding on the indoor rollers at the team hotel. While being back on the bike just six days after a major crash in South Limburg is an impressive feat, taking the start line at Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday is logically out of the question.
With Jorgenson sidelined, Visma | Lease a Bike will shift its focus to Ben Tulett for the race finale. The British rider proved he is in excellent form by securing a highly impressive third-place finish at Wednesday's La Flèche Wallonne. The team hopes he can carry that momentum into Sunday's harder Monument.
He will be supported by a squad that includes veteran Steven Kruijswijk, Menno Huising, Filippo Fiorelli, Ouwain Doull, Tim Rex, and Pietro Mattio. Notably absent from the roster is Jorgen Nordhagen, who started as a co-leader on Wednesday but will not participate this weekend.
Evenepoel backed by a climbing powerhouse
Meanwhile, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe also finalized their lineup for the Ardennes closer, bringing a formidable climbing train to support their leader, Remco Evenepoel. As he targets the victory, Evenepoel will rely on the heavy support of established overall contenders and climbers like Jai Hindley, Daniel Felipe Martinez, and Finn Fisher-Black in the deep finale.
The roster is rounded out by Haimar Etxeberria, Nico Denz, and Jan Tratnik. One name missing from the start list is Maxim Van Gils; despite doing a course recon alongside Evenepoel, he will not be taking part in the race.
The three main favourites to win Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Alaphilippe forced to rest
Elsewhere in the peloton, Tudor Pro Cycling confirmed some unfortunate news regarding Julian Alaphilippe. The former world champion had already struggled earlier in the week, abandoning both the Amstel Gold Race and La Flèche Wallonne before reaching the finish. The team has now officially pulled him from their upcoming racing schedule so he can focus on recovering fully.
"Julian will unfortunately miss both Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Eschborn-Frankfurt due to medical reasons. He will not participate in the upcoming events to prioritize his health and guarantee a full return to cycling. In the meantime, we wish him a speedy recovery," the team said.
