Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Matteo Jorgenson has gone back to back with a second successive GC win at Paris-Nice. On the final stage of the 2025 edition, Jorgenson's American compatriot Magnus Sheffield soloed to a very impressive stage win.

There was an almighty fight to form a breakaway over the course of the opening 50km or so. On the first climb of the day, only Lidl-Trek leader Mads Pedersen managed to get an advantage over the bunch, but behind the Dane, things were incredibly split with numerous notable names including Lenny Martinez and Max Schachmann caught out and chasing behind the Yellow Jersey group.

INEOS Grenadiers were leading the peloton's chase behind, and the pace setting of the British based team was having an effect too, with race leader Matteo Jorgenson already isolated, with all his Team Visma | Lease a Bike teammates dropped.

On the Côte de Peille it was Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe that took over from INEOS at the front with both Aleksandr Vlasov and Florian Lipowitz making attacks out of the Yellow Jersey group, in turns decimating Pedersen's advantage at the front. By the top of the climb, Vlasov had actually managed to get across to Pedersen, as had Felix Gall. Pedersen though, intent on remaining at the front until the intermediate sprint was still looking incredibly strong.

At just over 25km to go, Jorgenson himself made an attack to launch the chase. The Maillot Jaune quickly broke free of the chase group, but by the top of the climb, Pedersen incredibly managed to summit the Col d'Eze first, taking maximum points at the intermediate sprint.

On the final climb of the day, Pedersen finally began to drop away. At the front meanwhile, it was INEOS Grenadiers Magnus Sheffield that was powering clear solo. The American started the day 2:54 down on Jorgenson in the general classification, and whilst the Maillot Jaune was more than likely out of reach, Sheffield was moving up the GC.

As far as the stage win went, despite Jorgenson and Gall working hard in the chase behind, there was no catching Sheffield. It was Jorgenson that took the overall race victory though, taking the Maillot Jaune for the second successive year.

Really happy for Matteo, especially despite not having much team support over the last couple of days. He's strong and in great form. He'll be a strong teammate for Jonas in the Tour. Also happy for Magnus—he's had a tough two years, and this is a well-earned reward for his dedication. Ineos have really come out fighting this year and I'm really liking this from them.
