Mark Cavendish opens account for 2024 with victory on stage 4 of Tour Colombia

In a thrilling finish, Mark Cavendish, has taken victory on stage 4 of the Tour Colombia, leaving behind his competitor, Fernando Gaviria. Cavendish showed his skill in the final meters, aided by the help of Michael Morkov. Third place on the stage went to Nelson Soto.

The main group managed to capture Muñiz, who was leading a breakaway, approximately two kilometers from the finish line, setting the stage for an exciting final sprint. The stage, which passed through diverse landscapes of Colombia, culminated in the streets of Zipaquirá, where José Ramón Muñiz of the Petrolike team tried an attack with three kilometers to go, but was later caught by the peloton.

Throughout the course, several riders tried to break away, but were caught by the main group, which maintained a frenetic pace in search of victory. Cardona and Rosas, who managed to maintain an advantage over the peloton for some time, although they were caught before the finish line.

The stage was marked by changes in the weather, with intermittent rains in some sections of the route, but fortunately, the weather conditions improved towards the end of the race, providing an exciting finish in Zipaquirá.
