In a thrilling finale to stage 2 at the Tour de la Provence, Mads Pedersen has continued his domination of the Tour de la Provence, adding stage 2 to his stage 1 and prologue triumph. This was much closer though with the breakaway lasting all the way to the final 200m
After five men took to the breakaway, just Marco Frigo and Emmanuel Morin remained ahead of the peloton heading onto the final climb of the day. Despite the attacks of the big-name chasers, heading into the final 10m, Frigo impressively remained out front.
Those chasers included race leader Mads Pedersen. With Frigo starting the day just 18 seconds down, the GC was potentially up for grabs in the finale. Entering the slightly uphill final kilometre, Frigo's lead was down to within 10 seconds. Heartbreakingly for Frigo, with just 200m to go the catch was finally completed and in the sprint, who else but Pedersen would take the win. Axel Zingle and Clément Champoussin completing the podium.
