Mads Pedersen has been building up his form towards
Paris-Roubaix where he will be one of the main favourites. He had been dominating the
Circuit Cycliste Sarthe until yesterday's final stage, but a late crash saw his plans derailed.
"All is good. I'm not hurt so that's fine. It's shit to lose the race this way but at least the crash wasn't too bad for me. It will be fine with a few days of recovery, we will be good!" Pedersen said after the finale of the final stage of the French stage-race. Up until that point, Pedersen had been leading the race after winning the first and third stage, alongside a second place in the second day of racing.
Pedersen was leading the race and was set for the overall win as he had a 23-second lead over Arkéa's Kévin Vauquelin. He was also a contender for the stage win, but a crash in the final kilometer dictated disaster for the Dane, who despite finishing the stage, was out of sight for the win of the jersey he carried.
He reported a lack of any serious injury, and should be able to recover properly in time of Paris-Roubaix which takes place in eight days.
