Five summit finishes and a 34-kilometer long time-trial. The Criterium du Dauphiné is every year the most important warm-up race ahead of the Tour de France, and the 2024 route promises to deliver a lot of spectacle into the summer.
The race will take place from the 2nd to 9th of June. Last year Jonas Vingegaard won the overall classification and then went on to win the Tour in similar fashion. More climbs expect the riders in the coming months. Stage 2 will end in the Col de la Loge which features quite a lot of climbing, the final ascent being 25 kilometers long.
Stage 3 will have a hilltop finale at Les Estables which is 3.8 kilometers at 5.2%, more of a day for the puncheurs. Stage 4 will be the time-trial day, which should create meaningful differences ahead of further mountain stages. Stages 6, 7 and 8 will feature a lot of mountains which the riders will use to prime their form.
Stage 6 finishes ahead of the Collet d'Allevard, stage 7 is a brutal mountain day with a summit finish at Samoëns 1600 which is 10 kilometers at over 9%. The final day of racing sees a third difficult summit finish in a row, with the race ending at the Plateau des Glières which is 9.4 kilometers at 7%, the final two being almost flat but in gravel roads.
