Despite having ridden the Tour de France six times in his career and securing himself numerous top-10 stage finishes, a stage win has so far proven elusive for Coquard. "The level promises to be very high and the difficult stages follow one another until the end, like these last two very difficult days," he previews. "But there are quite a few opportunities for sprinters (eight) which could suit me."
For Cofidis however, the focus could be elsewhere. After taking two stage wins at this year's edition through Victor Lafay and Ion Izagirre, confidence is clearly high within the French-based team and they are dreaming of a potential GC challenge. "It's a Tour for sprinters but also for climbers: it could be a favourable playground for
Guillaume Martin to challenge for the general classification,” Coquard predicts.
