"If the race was yesterday I don't think I would have started" - Illness almost saw Chloe Dygert withdraw before winning time-trial at Glasgow World Championship

Chloe Dygert has taken the second title of her career in the women's individual time-trial and also her second title win at the Glasgow World Championship after winning on the track earlier at the event.

"This is really special. It's not just special for me, it's special for everybody behind me. The team, Canyon//SRAM, U.S.A. cycling, my family, my personal team, this means a lot for us," a delighted Dygert said in her post-race interview with Eurosport. "It's just trusting the process and god's plan and I'm really thankful."

"To be honest I was really worried. If the race was yesterday I don't think I would have started," the American continued, referencing the fact she had been struck down with illness since her win on the track. "I spent the last four days praying to god that I'd be okay today. I'm still not 100% but I started the race today to just give everything I could and it was just about enough for today, I'm very pleased."

Nevertheless, Dygert showed no sign of any after effects of the illness, powering to victory by just 5.67 seconds ahead of Australia's Grace Brown.
