Recently, Filippo Ganna revealed he was set to put his track ambitions on the back burner in order to try and get back to his very best on the road. Now, it seems Ganna's fellow multi discipline star and compatriot Jonathan Milan is going to follow in similar footsteps.
“I will take a short break for the next 1-2 years," the Lidl-Trek sprinter explains in conversation with Radiocorsa, having targeted track success alongside his road racing ambitions over the last couple of seasons, including in 2024 at the Olympic Games, where he took a bronze medal in the team pursuit. "I would like to focus more on the road and maybe then start preparing for the track again. For now, let’s think about next year.”
In the coming year, the big goal of the two-time Maglia Ciclamino winner at the Giro d'Italia is targeting a potential Tour de France debut. “I would definitely like it and it would be very nice," he previews of the prospect, even noting the target of the Maillot Jaune if he can arrive in France with his top level on stage 1. "There is also a first stage that is suitable for us sprinters, so we will see.”
