Already in 2024 though, whilst riding for Groupama - FDJ, Pithie showed some big potential in the Spring. "Last season, I just missed out on the group of favourites over the top of the Poggio in Milan-Sanremo. This time, I want to follow the best. If it comes to a sprint, you never know," Pithie assesses. "Paris-Roubaix is a classic in which anything can happen, just think of
Wout van Aert's flat tire in 2023. My goal is to follow the favourites in Hell for as long as possible. I would be a bit too confident if I said that I could beat Wout and Mathieu in Roubaix. But I will go to those top races with an open mindset and give it my all."
With a new team and a new coach, Pithie has also been working hard to get even better. "I am working on my weak points so that I can finish it in the big races in 2025," the Kiwi explains. "I recently re-watched the classics and then I noticed that I often wasted energy unnecessarily. I was a bit too eager and enthusiastic because I didn't want to miss a single important move. With my new coach I am working on my weak points so that I can finish it off in the classics next year."
