Although he got into professional cycling relatively late, few riders have been as successful as
Primoz Roglic over the last decade in the World Tour peloton and the Slovenian is far from done competing at the very top level.
Speaking in a sit-down interview with Road Code, the
BORA - hansgrohe leader was asked "What advice would you give to young cyclists who are just starting their journey in the sport?" In an eloquent answer from Roglic, he gave a small insight into the mindset that has made him a four-time Grand Tour winner among many other notable successes.
"It sounds simple but in the end, it's always hard to do it. Follow your dreams. Don't give up and fight through the obstacles that come along and yeah, that's all I can say," Roglic advises to the next generation, not that he's ready to pass the torch anytime soon however.
In fact, over the recent off-season, Roglic moved from the all-conquering Team Visma | Lease a Bike set-up to a new challenge with BORA - hansgrohe in order to pursue his own dream of winning the Tour de France. "It's great that I've had an opportunity to change teams and step into a new environment," Roglic reflects. "With my age it also gives me an extra boost to keep going and keep doing my best."
"I like how everyone here is fully motivated to go for something big and to try to be the best team in the world. I mean, when I came from the best one it's quite a difference but I get to work with a bunch of people that are ready to work and try to be the best," he concludes. "The biggest difference is just the new environment. Surrounded by new people with a bit different food, different equipment, different colours, it's a whole new project to be in. But, like I said, I like challenges so that's why I also changed sport from ski jumping to cycling."
