Remco Evenepoel had an unforgettable 2024, securing his
status as one of the brightest stars in cycling. The 24-year-old Belgian made a
stunning debut at the
Tour de France, winning a stage, finishing third overall,
and claiming the white jersey for the best young rider.
Evenepoel’s success didn’t stop there. At the Olympic Games
in Paris, he achieved a historic feat, becoming the first male cyclist to win
double gold in both the road race and time trial. This extraordinary
achievement was followed by another triumph when he defended his world time
trial title in Zurich in September.
Outside of his performances on the bike, the Soudal – Quick-Step
rider made a significant impact through charity efforts. He raised an
impressive €13,000 via a shirt auction, which featured unique jerseys from his
standout 2024 season, including those from the Tour de France, the Olympic
Games, and the World Time Trial Championships.
Evenepoel further showcased his generosity by adding a
personal donation of €10,000, contributed by him and his R.EV Brussels Cycling
Academy. "That brings our total to 23,167 euros. I hope I was able to
contribute my bit. I want to wish you all very happy holidays. Above all, take
care of each other, also after 'De Warmste Week,'"
he shared in a
heartfelt video message.
