The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe training camp is currently in full force and Primoz Roglic was one of the riders that talked to the media this Wednesday, after the reveal of the race's main calendar.
"I don't want to think about it. I still have the hunger to compete with the best. You shouldn't look down but up," Roglic said in the German team's media day as reported by Domestique. This is the last year of his current contract with the German team, but is it of his career too? "I hope not. I mean, I want to race this moment for 10 more years. As long as I feel that hunger and it makes me happy, I have to be happy, and I have to enjoy it".
His career is certainly different currently, with him taking a step back in BORA leadership as their third card into the 2026 season. "I would say it's a bit, maybe a change in myself. It's a step out of being completely involved in cycling. I am not obsessed with winning one more stage or race. I will survive."
His calendar includes Tirreno-Adriatico, Itzulia Basque Country and Tour de Romandie in the spring - with it being unsure where he starts his season at the time being. His schedule, for the time being, does not include neither Giro d'Italia nor Tour de France, but instead the Vuelta a España.
"If I could choose one race to win, it would be the Tour de France; it's not a secret. The reality is different," he comments. But the schedule is not certain. A presence at the Tour de Suisse in the summer is to be expected, where he would be able to win the seventh out of the seven main World Tour stage-races - without counting the Grand Tours.

No pressure and hoping for a long career

"I mean, there's always some chances. The fact is, you have to have some planning; there are lots of people around," he said of the team's schedule choices. Jai Hindley and Giulio Pellizzari are aiming for the Giro d'Italia whilst Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz are both focusing on the Tour de France.
This does remove the pressure from Roglic too, which is ultimately something he wants. "On one hand, it's even a bit less pressure, but I don't even know why I would even have pressure. It's nice and beautiful. I like it. He's a nice guy. We are all probably different, but for the moment where we are now, I can say he's a nice guy and I enjoy."
However he knows that year after year the peloton rides faster, and that he will continue to face bigger challenges as his career progresses. "It's about how hard it will be. Now, in all races, it's becoming harder and harder as races are also becoming harder."
