"I can’t stand riders who try to lay down the law" - Thomas Voeckler outraged by Nils Politt's authoritative gestures
Cycling
We get it. Having to take care of the yellow jersey while also performing your other duties, team orders and more, one can quickly snap. Nils Politt tried to play it cool during stage 16. When a large breakaway was already off, the UAE Team Emirates - XRG teammate of Tadej Pogacar would've been more than happy to let the group go, but more attacks came. The unhappy German would thus roll up to the front to enforce ceasefire.
Thomas Voeckler, former professional and now an expert for the French TV, was outraged at the display. "There's no worse attitude, in an arrogant way. It's often the domestiques, not the leaders, who show up like that. I can’t stand riders who try to lay down the law. Not so long ago, he was struggling in the mountains."

- Surely the UCI and the race organisers have a responsibility to ensure the best medical care is available to riders when incidents like this happen. All very well pushing for global expansion but not so good if riders lives are put at risk because medical support is not up to scratch.Andy12306-11-2026

- The American performance at the World's road race was a masterclass in cycling tactics. If it wasn't McNulty, it might well have been Jorgensen or Simmons to take off and win in a solo break.Occam06-11-2026

- He seems to be the rare athlete whose passion and curiosity about life beyond his sport equals his extraordinary achievements in it. It would be great for him to risk less of that life. He seems very grateful and joyful for what he has already attained.
