Antonio Tiberi had the best season of his career so far in
2024, as the 23 year old won the young riders classification at his home race,
the Giro d’Italia. And things just got even better for the Italian, who has
been recognised with an award for ‘courage and progress,’ at the Friends of Cycling
Group in the monastery of the Carmelites, in Florence, Italy.
The Bahrain-Victorious rider was also looking strong and
leading the young riders classification at the Vuelta a Espana in August,
before illness saw him abandon the race. Regardless, it was a very impressive
second year with Bahrain – Victorious, and there should be plenty more to
come from Tiberi.
Reacting to his successful 2024
season, a delighted Tiberi
said, "I am happy with my 2024 season. Especially with the fifth place in
the
Giro d'Italia and the first place in the young rider classification.
“Next year I will try to improve my performances in all
races. I also want to prepare well for the Giro d'Italia, so that I can hunt
for the
pink jersey in good shape. Next year will be an important season for
me".
Will we see Tiberi take on the Tour de France in 2025?
Perhaps not yet, but when he does make his debut in France it will be great news for cycling fans, as he is certainly one
to watch for the future.
