Great Britain is in a relative crisis when it comes to road cycling and the situation continues to get worst. One of it's very few remaining pro teams,
Trinity Racing, will not be on the road in 2025 as it lacks the funds.
It was this very same lack of funds due to reduced sponsorship and and increased running costs that led to the decision, as reported by
CyclingWeekly. This comes as a big hit after the same has happened to other teams in recent years and INEOS Grenadiers themselves have struggled. The World Tour outfit partnered with a German under-23 team recently.
This is specially bad for the development ambitions of talents within a nation that has over the past decade and a half won several Tour de France editions. Riders such as Tom Pidcock and Ben Healy have come out to then become stars, Cameron Mason who is the leading figure of British cyclocross; and for example last winter the departure of sprinter duo Paul Magnier and Luke Lamperti departed to Soudal - Quick-Step.
Team DS Peter Kennaugh was announced into Astana Qazaqstan Team this week, which opened further questions. Talking to the American news outlet, he's provided insight into the current situation: “Trinity, I think they’re going to continue, but only as a mountain bike team. That’s not confirmed yet, just from the last conversations I’ve had with some of the guys who work there. Almost like a small sort of feeder team for the Specialized Factory team, I guess.”
