After seven years and 67 professional victories,
Remco Evenepoel has concluded his tenure with the
Soudal - Quick-Step team. "The Wolfpack" watched him grow, as he debuted with them at the young age of 19 after dazzling in the junior categories. His impact was immediate, and he soon became the team's star by right, achieving a record only available to a select few.
Seven years is a long time, and Soudal Quick-Step wanted to pay tribute to the rider who has been their star throughout this period by
publishing an emotional video across their social media channels. The video reviews some of Evenepoel's greatest successes, though it does not ignore the negative, such as the horrific crash he suffered at Il Lombardia in 2020.
Remco Evenepoel’s career with Soudal Quick-Step began with an unprecedented leap straight to the professional ranks in 2019 at just 19, coming fresh off the amateur club Acrog - Balen BC Junior. His impact was immediate, as he got five victories, including World Tour level Clásica Ciclista San Sebastián, which he would go on to win again in the following years.
He got 9 more wins in 2020, though his meteoric rise was dramatically halted by a fractured pelvis suffered at Il Lombardia in 2020, which put a premature end to his season. After a difficult recovery and a relatively low profile 2021, in which he "only" got 8 victories in second tier races, he reached his best shape in 2022.
Evenepoel has won Clásica Ciclista San Sebastián three times
During this season, Evenepoel won 15 times and delivered some of the team's most significant achievements, becoming the first Belgian in 44 years to win a Grand Tour by claiming the 2022 Vuelta a España, a triumph he immediately followed by seizing the Elite Men's Road Race World Championship in Australia, securing the rainbow jersey.
He also claimed two dominant victories at the Monument Liège-Bastogne-Liège (2022 and 2023), alongside the 2023-2024-2025 World Time Trial title, establishing himself as the definitive leader and star during his tenure with the Wolfpack.
His attempts to win the Tour de France in 2024 and 2025 were not that successful, as he was clearly one step below
Tadej Pogacar and
Jonas Vingegaard in both occassions. He still managed to finish in third place in 2024, while in 2025 he was forced to abandon.
He will fight again next year in his
next destination, Red Bull - Bora - hansgrohe, where he will join Primoz Roglic, Florian Lipowitz, and Giulio Pellizzari, among others. The German squad has assembled a formidable super team that aims to contend for everything next season, with the General Classification of the Grand Tours being their main objectives given the names they have on roster.
