Giro d'Italia | Mark Cavendish leads Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team in seek of sprint stages

Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team have confirmed their lineup for the upcoming Giro d'Italia, in which Mark Cavendish has been confirmed as team leader, as he returns to the Italia Grand Tour for the first time since 2013.

The sprinting legend has taken wins at the Tour of Oman, UAE Tour and Milano-Torino this season, and will be looking to increase the tally at the Giro. With illnesses and injuries affecting the team's selection, it favoured Cavendish as Michael Morkov has been brought as a late-minute addition to the team which will be of great help to the leadout. Davide Ballerini and Bert van Lerberghe will also play a crucial role.

The team's focus will be stage wins, as they come in with Mauri Vansevenant and Mauro Schmid who should be able to contest a wide variety of stages, with the hilly days as the main focus. Pieter Serry and James Knox complete the lineup, adding some more climbing firepower into the mix.
