Israel - Premier Tech will specifically be aiming at the sprint stages during the upcoming Giro d'Italia, as they reveal a lineup full of firepower and designed around the goals of Giacomo Nizzolo.
“The Giro d’Italia is one of my biggest goals of the year and I think as a team, we are super motivated and ready to do our best,” Nizzolo said in a press release. The team admits the points classification is also a goal, with a very big focus around the support of Nizzolo for the sprints. The Italian has had a strong start to the season despite not having won, with several strong results in a sprint. He's won his first stage here last year, but has won the points classification already in 2015 and 2016.
Team DS Oscar Guerrero has added: "We have a very sprint-focused roster with Giacomo as our leader so it’s clear that the team’s primary objective is stage wins. We have a very strong lead out train with Rick Zabel, Alex Dowsett, and Matthias Brändle, as well as Jenthe Biermans, who we have added to give the train extra support."
Outside of the team's sprinting ambitions, the goal will purely revolve around stage wins at the time being. Alessandro de Marchi has lead the race last year, but despite his breakaway expertize, he's yet to win at the Corsa Rosa. Alex Cataford and Reto Hollenstein complete the Israeli team's lineup.
