General Classification Standings after Stage 1

After a relatively quiet opening stage, the day, and the first Maglia Rosa of the race were decided in a crash-marred final sprint to the line in Burgas. Emerging victorious through the chaos was Soudal - Quick-Step's Paul Magnier, bagging the first Grand Tour stage win of his career ahead of Tobias Lund Andresen and Ethan Vernon.
Due to bonus seconds taken from their day in the breakaway, both Manuele Tarozzi and Diego Pablo Sevilla also see themselves slightly ahead of the main peloton. As does Antonio Morgado, who snatched bonus seconds at the Red Bull sprint for UAE Team Emirates - XRG. Notably, with the final crash happening within the last 5km safety zone, all riders were given the same time at the line.

As you might expect, having sprinted to victory on stage 1, Paul Magnier is also the first Maglia Ciclamino of the race, with the top of the points classification standings understandably similar to the GC after the first day of the race.

King of the Mountains Standings after Stage 1

In the fight for the King of the Mountains, despite the opening stage being almost pan flat, the breakaway duo of Tarozzi and Sevilla managed to scoop up maximum points between them at every categorised climb. What that means for the standings is that Sevilla is the first KoM leader of the 2026 Giro d'Italia with 6 points to his name.

Youth Classification Standings after Stage 1

With Magnier being still being just 22, the talented Frenchman also takes the lead of the Youth Classification by virtue of that opening stage win. Andresen and Morgado and close behind with the rest of the eligible riders from the Giro all sat 10 seconds down on the Soudal - Quick-Step sprinter.

Teams Classification Standings after Stage 1

In terms of the team standings, Magnier's victory has helped fire Soudal - Quick-Step into the early lead ahead of Lidl-Trek and the already lurking UAE Team Emirates - XRG. With all teams still on the same time however, it's likely this battle will get more exciting as the days go by.
